Biography
The Polish writer, essayist, poet and translator Anna Arno was born in 1984. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University with a degree in art history, she lives and writes today in Kraków. She has published three collections of short stories, Okn (Windows, Zeszyty Literackie, 2013), Ten kraj (This Country, Wydawnictwo Literackie, 2018) and Ciało (Body, Austeria, 2021). Her work in biography includes a book on the German painter Paula Modersohn-Becker, the first biography of the Polish writer and activist Konstanty Jeleński, and most recently a biography of the German-language Romanian poet Paul Celan. Translated by Soren Gauger, Paul Celan: A Life is scheduled for publication this year by Harvard University Press.
