Biography

The German- and Italian-speaking Swiss writer and translator Anna Ruchat was born in Zurich in 1959 and grew up in the Canton of Ticino. She taught for twenty years at the Altiero Spinelli Civic School for Interpreters and Translators in Milano and currently teaches translation in the publishing industry, in Lugano and Rimini. The author of scores of Italian translations of German literature, she has written a number of books and collections of poetry, including In questa vita (Casagrande, 2004), winner of the Schiller Prize and the Chiara Prize in 2005; and Gli anni di Nettuno sulla terra (IBIS, 2018), a collection of short narratives exploring human relations through seemingly ordinary moments of life.
