Biography
The Colombian writer and journalist Antonio Ungar was born in Bogotá in 1974. In the late 1990s he spent a year in the Colombian jungle in contact with the indigenous population, then traveled abroad, living in Manchester, Mexico, and Barcelona before eventually settling in Palestine. He is the author of a number of novels and collections of short stories, which have been translated into several languages. His novel Tres ataúdes blancos (Anagrama, 2010) was awarded the 2010 Herralde Prize and was shortlisted for the Rómulo Gallegos Prize. His latest novel, Eva y las fieras (Anagrama, 2021), tells the story of a Bogotá nurse and her daughter who, wanting to lend a helping hand to the native peoples of the Amazon, leave the city for life in the jungle.
