Biography
The American author and poet Kailee Pedersen was adopted in 1996 in Nanning, China, and grew up in Nebraska. A graduate of Columbia University with a B.A. in Classics, she resides in New York City, where she also works as a software engineer and opera singer. She is the author of the queer poetry chapbook Pastorale (Burnside Review Press, 2025) and the novel Sacrificial Animals (St. Martin’s, 2024), which was named one of the New York Public Library’s Best Books of 2024 and a finalist for Best Horror at the 2025 Libby Book Awards. Her queer identity and Asian background are central to her writing. Her second novel, The Minimalist, is slated for publication from St. Martin’s in 2026.
