Biography
The Polish translator and researcher Krzysztof Majer teaches at the University of Lodz, Poland. A specialist of North American fiction, he is an editor at Literatura na Świecie (one of Poland’s most prestigious journals) and Text Matters, for which he coedited with Sherry Simon a special issue on translation. An award-winning translator, he has authored Polish versions of many notable writers in English, including Barth, Melville, Markson, Gurnah, Hempel, Eisenberg, Cheever, Kerouac, Ginsberg, and deWitt. With Sylvia Soderlind, he has also cotranslated into English the post-Holocaust correspondence of Chava Rosenfarb and Zenia Larsson, Letters from the Afterlife, (ed. Goldie Morgentaler, McGill University Press, 2025).
