Biography
The Berlin-based author and translator Luca Mael Milsch earned a Master’s in German literature from Leibniz University Hannover before working as a curator for the Literary Salon in Hanover. Milsch then began a career in translation, publishing German versions of several books in English, including Claire Kilroy’s Soldier, Sailor (Kinderspiel), and has had their own short stories and poetry published in various literary magazines. The main themes in the author’s original work in German range from shame and silence to queer temporalities and “crip time,” a concept of time that is slowed down, reappropriated and reclaimed by persons with disabilities. Milsch’s debut novel Sieben Sekunden Luft was published by Haymon Verlag in 2024.
