Biography
The Japanese poet and translator Yuki Tanaka was born and raised in Yamaguchi, Japan. He holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from Washington University in St. Louis and currently teaches at Hosei University, Tokyo. His poems have appeared in The New Republic, The Paris Review, Poetry, and elsewhere. He co-translated, with Mary Jo Bang, A Kiss for the Absolute: Selected Poems of Shuzo Takiguchi (Princeton University Press, 2024). His debut poetry collection, Chronicle of Drifting (Copper Canyon Press, 2025), was longlisted for the National Book Critics Circle Award. It delves into such themes as displacement and the search for identity.
